The history of the Ducal Palace begins at the end of the thirteenth century as Seat of the Government of the Republic of Genoa. During the fourteenth and fifteenth century, the building was gradually expanded with a late Renaissance architectural style. After the fire of 1777, a reconstruction of the halls turn them into the neoclassical still visible nowadays. In the sumptuous halls are organized since 1992 (when the palace have been re-opened to the public) exhibitions, cultural activities, meetings, incentives, cocktails and openings, prestigious international conferences, presentations, weddings, conventions, gala dinners. Hi-technology equipments and a wide range of services to meet all needs' organization have made the Palace the ideal venue for the G8 Summit in 2001 and for the main events of Genoa 2004 European Capital of Culture.
